“Hey man, what are you doing?”, said one. “Nothing.”, said another.
“Okay, what were you doing?”, said one. “Nothing.”, said another.
“Umm, then what will you be doing later?”, said one. “NOTHING.”, said another.
Sounds familiar?
That’s literally me today. I don’t feel like doing anything. I want to just drown myself in the ocean of nothing-ness. Nothingness means non-existence. No, I do want to exist but I want to do nothing. I don’t even feel like writing this blog, but I thought we need to acknowledge our thoughts, even if they are not exactly happy or positive. I have observed that generally I feel this way after a really hectic day. Yesterday, I had too many tasks to perform and absolutely no time on my side. Today when I had the liberty to plan my own day, I didn’t feel like doing it. It’s funny that when our days are packed with work, we complain that we don’t have free time. It’s funny that when we have that free time, we don’t utilise it to the fullest and complain about not having any work to do.
Today was one of those days when I had a lot of work yet I did nothing. Yesterday I reached the summit and today I fell off it. Well, it’s okay. It’s not like I was sitting in one spot all day.
Did I do nothing today? No!
I did make sabudana khichadi for lunch, I did visit my grandma, I did interact with my family, I did make cinnamon rolls upon my brother’s request, I did meditate in the evening with my family and I am writing this blog now.
Let’s talk to nothing
Nothing, oh nothing, I don’t know why you are here. Maybe you need something, But I don’t have anything So, you can go back to being NOTHING.
More about Nothing
I feel the word ‘nothing’ can be negative and positive. Negative when it generates restlessness but positive when it generates peacefulness. Negative when you are egoistic but positive when you are grateful.
Now, I feel no one can’t do nothing. If you ever feel you are doing nothing, try closing your eyes and focus on your breath. We all are breathing, something that is keeping us alive. The day we stop breathing and reach the state of nothingness, that day we will actually be nothing and we will do nothing.
We are performing a task by keeping ourselves alive!
I like how I am validating myself but this thought is actually helping me! I feel better now. I am glad I wrote about my state of feeling nothing which led me into thinking this.
Conclusion is…
You are always doing something even when you feel you are doing nothing. You are breathing!
